Institute for Hebraic Christian Studies

The Institute for Hebraic Christian Studies was founded by Dr. Richard Booker and offers courses at the McKinney campus at the Bethany Center. The classes are conducted and taught by Dr. Victoria Sarvadi, a graduate of IHCS Houston, and Chaplain Lisa Depew, a graduate of IHCS McKinney. The institute offers 6 courses that consists of 12 classes in each course. Each year we provide 3 courses in the form of trimesters and will take 2 years to complete the degree.

Those who want to earn an Associates Degree in Hebraic-Christian Studies may do so by answering the questions at the end of each lesson and submitting their answers either on paper or electronically through email on a Word Document. Students who are not interested in earning the diploma need not submit their answers. Classes may be attended through Zoom or in person. Everyone must register.

2021 SCHEDULE

JR100 classes begin February 1st at 7:00pm and runs through April 19th.

The purpose of this course is to help the student understand the various covenants in the Hebrew Scriptures with a special emphasis on the blood covenant. The student learns the basic blood covenant ritual and God revealed it to Adam, Abraham, Moses and the prophets as a picture of the blood of the everlasting covenant He has made for us through Messiah Jesus.

JR200 classes begin June 14th at 7:00pm and runs through August 30th.

The purpose of this course is to help the student understand why God gave the Sabbath(s) and Feasts in the Hebrew Scriptures.The student will study the meaning of the Sabbath, when and how it is to be kept, and by whom.The student will also study the biblical Feasts as a foreshadowing of the Messiah as well as other Jewish holidays.

JR300 classes begin September 27th at 7:00pm and runs through December 20th (off December 6th).

This course is to help the student understand God’s plan for Israel and the nations in history and prophecy.The student will gain an overview of the entire history of the Jewish people including their past glory and suffering, present crisis and future hope.The student will also study the prophecies of the Messiah in the Hebrew Scriptures in light of their fulfillment in Jesus.

COMING IN 2022

JR400 

The purpose of this course is to assist the student in discovering the “Jewishness” of Jesus and understanding the beginning of the early church. The student will learn the Hebraic background of the teachings of Jesus and the early church, the relationship between the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament, the purpose and role of the Law, the emerging influence of the Pharisees and the role of Pilate and the Sadducees in the crucifixion of Jesus.

JR500 

The purpose of this course is to help the student understand the history of the Jewish people from the call of Abraham through the First Testament, the period between the Testaments, the New Testament era, the Roman era, and Christian anti-Semitism from the time of Constantine through the Holocaust.

JR600 

The purpose of this course is to help the student understand the basic Jewish beliefs and practices from a Hebraic-Christian perspective.
